ADSL RAG test

adsl bar

The BT Wholesale RAG test comprises of a string of data which breaks down giving information of the status of your line held on the BTw database. The test gets its name from the Red Amber Green status.

You can find out the results of a RAG test by putting your telephone number in the adsl line checker.

Entering your phone number into the checker gives a greater reliability of results than by just using the PostCode alone.

The fields of data break down as follows:-

RAG test

Field Checks Values

1 Fixed Rate adsl (1Mbps and 2Mbps) R = RED - 1Mbps and 2Mbps not possible
A = AMBER - Long line green for 1Mbps, Red for 2Mbps
G = GREEN - 1Mbps and 2Mbps available
2 Rate Adaptive adsl (512kbps and 256kbps) R = RED - 512kbps and 256kbps not possible after engineer check
A = AMBER - Line has over 75dB loss. adsl is unlikely, but will be tested by an engineer on-site
G = GREEN - 512kbps and 256kbps available
3 Exchange Status N = Exchange upgrade not planned
P = Exchange upgrade due
E = Exchange ADSL enabled
S = Exchange Activate planned
L = Exchange Activate enabled at maximum 512kbps
H = Exchange reviewed and deemed unviable
F = Exchange under future review
R = Exchange part of the Roll-Out programme
4 Line Compatibility Z = No compatibility issues found.
C = Compatibility issue found. This could be several things eg. existing ADSL connection, pending ADSL order on line, ISDN, DACS, TPON, LLU, some alarm systems.
